Be More Open-Minded
Three weeks ago, I got an email from a woman I didn’t know asking me if I’d be willing to be interviewed for a podcast—she was putting together a series of interviews for a summit called “Embrace Your Unique Self.” My automatic thought was, “what does she want from me?” I’m not proud of my initial reaction…but, as I thought about it, I realized it was my version of self-protection.
I googled her website, jadepathacupuncture.com and loved what I saw. Her work is similar to mine—helping people accept and appreciate themselves and their lives. I was both flattered that she asked for my participation and a little angry with myself for not being more aggressive in publicizing my work! I am not a self-promoter or a marketing kind of person, but I realized I need to own the fact that I have something important and valuable to share.
Technique of the week: Think about a situation when you may have gone to an automatic place of “NO” when you felt a little suspicious about something being asked of you. Consider what you could have done instead (like I did when I checked Jade’s website). Open your mind, know your worth and SHARE yourself more!
