Get Motivated!
If you’re feeling a little lazy, grumpy, or unmotivated…you are soooo not alone. All of us have experienced times when we feel great, in the zone and on a roll. But we also go through frustrating times when we’re thinking, “What the f*** is going on? I’m stuck…I don't even know what to do first…and I really don’t care.”
The truth is, you do care. But staying motivated is not something that always happens naturally. Plus, it’s impossible to move forward if you tie your happiness to huge, unattainable goals that sap all your energy and willpower.
The first step is to aim high—but also be realistic about your goals. Figure out what you need to do and make a list. According the American Psychological Association, people who set specific goals are 90% more likely to achieve what they’ve set their mind to. Pick the most daunting task on your list and take it on! Once you get that out of the way, you’ll feel accomplished and more confident about tackling the next one!
Technique of the week: When you feel as if your motivation has been hijacked, acknowledge and accept the feeling. Motivation is a mindset: The goal or task doesn’t change, but you can change the way you think about it. Consider what you MUST do right now—do that one thing to get the ball rolling. You’ll build on that momentum to take care of the rest of your list in no time!
