The Pleasure of Anticipation
Make sure that you have something to do that you enjoy and look forward to every day. Anticipating simple pleasures like watching a TV program or a movie, or even reading a book for just 15 minutes can increase your positive emotions.
The anticipation can actually be more exciting than the event itself! Research shows that our emotions are stronger when we look forward to something we like to do even more than when we are reminiscing about it.
This week, think about the daily activities you look forward to as well as any bigger events you may have planned like a party or vacation. Make a conscious effort to be present in the moment of enjoying your anticipation!
