MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS
We are all unique- it’s true. However, there is something that we all as human beings share- and that is the need for connection.
One way to connect is by making your conversations more meaningful and asking open-ended questions. They require the other person to pause, think, and reflect.
Open-ended questions begin with why, how, what, tell me about, or what do you think about ….
It shows greater interest, eliminates one word answers, and creates more in depth conversations.
This week be more conscious of asking open-ended questions. Authentic human interactions in which we feel seen, heard and understood are one of the greatest predictors of one’s happiness!

2024
As this year comes to a close- it’s a great opportunity to consciously remember and feel gratitude for the positive things that you may have experienced this past year.
It is also a great time to consider what you want in the coming year.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it."
Think of 3 things that you want to be or have more of in your life. Perhaps you want to be more patient, positive, social, or present (still and calm).
Write them down.
Everyday do one thing that will support your desire. If you need suggestions - feel free to email me. I’d love to help.
Have a healthy, happy holiday and thank you so much for all of your support always!

YOU CAN SHIFT YOUR ENERGY
We often think that if we are feeling low that that’s just the way it is.
It is normal and natural to be blue sometimes, but the difference is positive, happy people don’t linger there.
Remember it’s temporary. Notice what you are telling yourself (it’s probably negative) 1. Change your thoughts,
2. Move your body (even just the venue) 3. Always think about something you can be grateful for.
These 3 things can’t help but help!!!! 🙏💪🏻❤️

HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING
I once heard the expression “How you do anything…. Is how you do everything”.
I loved these words because they made so much sense to me.
If you rush or tend to do the little or more tedious things thoughtlessly or in an auto-pilot manner - you probably approach many things you do that way.
This week make a conscious effort to notice “how” you do things. Are you present? Are you mindless?
Once you are aware of your “go-to“ ways - you can then choose to live your life with more consciousness, love and care!

RESPECT
Respect can be defined as a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
In order to feel and show respect towards another- it is of utmost importance to respect yourself!
Self-respect means accepting yourself as you are and making choices that take care of YOU! It’s not about being perfect – it’s about knowing that you’re deserving of respect just as you are.
We are way too hard on ourselves! Take a few minutes and think about a quality that you possess that you are proud of - give yourself the credit you deserve!
This week- pay attention to how you are treating your mind and body. As you make your daily choices, ask yourself- “Will this make me feel good and add to my sense of self-respect?”

DOSE
We can all use a little help accessing our “Dose." Dose is an acronym for dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins. They are considered our “happy hormones.”
These chemicals work together every second of your day to regulate your mood, perception and view of life.
Since your brain already has these neurotransmitters and hormones, it makes sense to maximize them, right? But doing so doesn’t require a secret code. All it takes is a few simple tasks and basic planning to boost these chemical messengers.

THIS WEEK...
There are no words to convey all my thoughts and emotions stemming from the horrific terrorist attack in Israel and the war in Gaza. I’m truly speechless. It is unimaginable.
A dear friend sent me a post written by a leading psychologist in Israel. I'd like to share a summary of it with you, as I hope this may help you during this very difficult time.
1. Obsessively watching the news provides us with an illusion of control; we may think that if we are constantly up to date, we are doing something about it.
*Watch more sparingly (possibly 2-3 times a day) in order to give us more strength for ourselves and our loved ones.
2. The videos and testimonies we are currently exposed to are bigger and crueler than our souls can contain. Just as we prefer to avoid eating extreme junk food, this is like junk food for the mind- PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WE PUT INTO IT AND IN WHAT DOSAGE.
3. Try to create a routine within this lack of routine. Give yourself small daily tasks. Don’t be angry at yourself for having a hard time functioning optimally right now.
4. Take fun, relaxing breaks to distract yourself. Play, listen to music, do some physical activity, or watch a movie. This is how you ventilate your soul.
5. Be with people that make you feel good.
6. Think about how you can help others, even in the smallest way. What can you "give" to others? The feeling you get from helping someone has been proven to boost your happiness.
7. It’s important to talk about what you are going through. Share with people that you feel comfortable with and trust.
P.S. My colleagues and I will be hosting a Zoom call on Tuesday October 24 at 7:00P.M. EST. We will be sharing a guided meditation as well as offering go-to life practices to help promote a greater sense of inner peace.

SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND
"Seek first to understand, then to be understood.”
~ Dr. Stephen R. Covey
When we communicate, we usually try to have our point of view understood first.
When I heard this quote many years ago, I loved it. It made a lot of sense to me. I felt that it took the pressure off of my need to speak and explain myself.
Empathic listening is listening with the intent to understand. It is powerful because you no longer make assumptions but instead start with an open frame of mind. It does take some time and practice, but not as much time as it takes to correct misunderstandings.
Try it this week when in conversation- “Seek to understand, then to be understood.”

PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Our lives are made up of many, many moments, and they add up to create experiences. I have recently been privileged to experience the feelings of being a grandma. These feelings are like nothing I have ever experienced!
I have observed this week how my robust gratitude and mindfulness mindset has added joy to my experience and my ability to be there to enjoy my beautiful granddaughter.
I share this with you- not to gloat, but with the hope that you will allow yourself to consider whether you are living consciously present to the moments of your life?
Living with a mindset of gratitude and awareness of the present moment (without judgment) will most definitely set you up to experience more joy in the moments of your life- Have a grateful, mindful week!

CHOICEPOINT
Everyday we are faced with so many choices…
Everything is a choice, and every choice has its consequences (whether positive or negative). Some choices offer the opportunity to take the time to think about them, and others need to be made in the moment. Ask yourself if this choice will add to your best life.
Clarity of mind combined with a sense of agency (I can do this, I’ve got what it takes) is what can help you feel more confident and comfortable with whatever choice you make.
Having the mindset that you will learn from whatever you choose and that the decision you make is part of YOUR journey is also part of feeling empowered.
Be careful not to get someone else’s beliefs and thoughts about what you “should” do stuck in your head. Instead, trust yourself and do what YOU need to do.
P.S. My colleagues and I will be hosting our “Meditation, Mindfulness & More” class this fall. Date TBD- stay tuned!!!!!

NURTURING RELATIONSHIPS
Invest time in the relationships that are important to you!
It is time VERY well spent. We all get so distracted by cell phones, Netflix, social media, and various other things.
If we STOP and put a little more effort into spending quality time with the people that make us feel good, nurtured and bring out our best- our lives will be filled with a lot more joy.
Pick up the phone or text someone that you may not have recently seen or connected with and make a plan. And…..when you're with those nourishing friends or family, put away your cell phone and fully enjoy the time together.

BEING HUMAN
We all feel angry, envious, sad, guilty, and embarrassed at times. Experiencing these "negative" emotions are all part of being human.
Unfortunately, we can't avoid experiencing these feelings. However, they are actually gifts! They can help us learn about ourselves, our triggers, and ways to express our feelings in an appropriate way.
Waiting for a full-blown outburst and then feeling guilty is not the way to manage our emotions. Practice on a simpler situation, when you are feeling a little bit agitated or sad, etc. It will be easier to thoughtfully choose your response, instead of overreacting.
