Express Yourself
One of the best ways to have a clearer mind and live more in the moment is by expressing your feelings. Though many of us are comfortable sharing positive thoughts, it’s equally important to communicative negative ones. Suppressing them may help you temporarily feel less sad or angry, but it also is like keeping a constant nag at your side preventing you from experiencing inner peace.
Learning to communicate what is in your heart is one of the most freeing things you can do. Part of having a full life is feeling all of your emotions, both pleasant and unpleasant. Getting in touch with your feelings will make you a better person as well as a better parent and partner.
Being vulnerable with people you trust is a sign of true strength, not weakness! Ultimately, the way to heal and move through any painful experience is to let yourself feel. When you express how you really feel (in an appropriate way), problems get solved, relationship issues get resolved, and life becomes easier and happier. Think of babies—they cry, they express their feelings, and then they move on. We don’t need to hold onto our feelings!
Technique of the week: The next time you have a heartfelt feeling—positive or negative—share it! Being true to your emotions makes you feel better about yourself because you’re able to be authentic. Figure out what you want to convey and take your time be thoughtful—that way you can have a clear mind to experience your day!
