Be Generous, Be Happy

The old saying, “it’s better to give than to receive” happens to be true. Many people think that if they only had more money life would be so much better, however, studies show that’s not the case. Research proves that spending money on others promotes happiness. It makes us feel good about ourselves.

While having enough money to live comfortably certainly contributes to happiness, having more than you need does not. Giving to others is the real source of joy.

Working hard and worrying about being able to afford our homes/family vacations/college tuitions and any unexpected expenses can be stressful, but generosity is actually an antidote to that anxiety.

Technique of the Week: Be extra generous. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line. Give an extra dollar when leaving a tip. Make generosity a regular habit. Watch what it does for your mood!
