It's Never Too Late
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” -C.S. Lewis
Think about your life right now, are there things you’d like to change? Many of us are not genuinely happy with our lives. We sometimes feel stuck and wonder. . . is this all there is? My clients say things like, “I was a lawyer, or a sales manager, what can I possibly do now?” Even my millennial clients often feel that they can’t change direction. They say, “I went to school for advertising (or fashion), I have to work in that field.”
The truth is, you can do ANYTHING. The world is a different place these days and there are so many ways to become more engaged in something you love—even if it’s a hobby vs. a new career. If the path that you’ve been following isn’t fulfilling, set aside your fear and know that you deserve to live your best life.
I’ve changed my path numerous times. I was a teacher. Then I trained to become a life coach. Years later—at age 48, hot flashes and all—I went back to school to earn a second master’s degree in Positive Psychology. Then I trained to become a mindfulness coach. . .and I’m not done yet! My life has been and continues to be a fascinating journey in my quest to create a life I love, and to help others do the same.
Be open to YOUR journey. You may have to take a step or two back to go forward. You will probably have to deal with those who think you’re crazy/naïve/a dreamer. Ignore them and surround yourself with people who sincerely want you to be happy. If you’re unsure about how to figure out what you want and how to get from A to B, call me!
Technique of the week: Give some serious thought to the change you want to make. Write it down. Divide it into small actions to tackle one step at a time. YOLO—so let’s get started!
