Show Your Appreciation

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” ~ William Arthur Ward

Pay attention to the things that people do for you and make it a point to show your appreciation.

Tell others whenever you feel grateful for something they have said or done. When you share your positive experience, both you and those you’re thanking enjoy an emotional boost.

Research shows that when we are more appreciative, the parasympathetic or calming part of the nervous system provides protective benefits for the body. Cortisol, the stress hormone, decreases and oxytocin, the love hormone increases, which makes us feel happier.

Don’t take kindness and generosity for granted. Even if a simple thank you is all you can utter, say it. Show your appreciation more and see how it feels!
