Nature Rx
Go for a walk in the woods. Research shows that spending quiet time among trees in a mindful state can relieve stress, decrease negative thoughts and build your immune system.
Doctors actually write “nature prescriptions” because we spend less and less time outdoors. We spend our days in front of computer screens, on our phones or binge-watching Netflix, which can lead to anxiety and depression.
This nature prescription, sometimes called Forest Bathing, is meant to provide an opportunity to slow down both in mind and body. Giving ourselves time outdoors in a park or among trees helps us to soak in phytoncides. These antimicrobial essential oils found specifically in trees, can provide tremendous relaxation.
Get outdoors, take a deep breath and feel yourself relax. You can then call upon this memory when you return to your busy life and feel the hectic pace pick up again.
